Minister meets young people in care

Minister posing with young people in care at Parliament House

Minister for Education and Child Development Grace Portolesi recently hosted a group of young people to discuss issues facing children and young people in the care system.  The group included young people living in residential care, from CREATE and some of the Guardian’s Youth Advisors and they shared experiences both good and bad from a wide range of care situations.  Several had recently returned from CREATE’s National Youth Advisory Council Summit and talked about some of the strategies from the Summit that would make a difference to their sense of belonging.

The meeting was the second in a series that the Minister plans to hold to keep abreast of the concerns of the more than 2600 young South Australians in the care of the State.
