Celebrating the good in 2021

As the year comes to an end, our team has paused to reflect on the things we have been grateful for over the last 12 months.

Of course, the children and young people in care and detention we have worked with are at the centre of all our hard work. We thank them endlessly for trusting us with their concerns and stories, and for their continued creative efforts to design new resources for the Charter of Rights and help shape Nunga Oog. A big thank you also goes to the young people who were part of our South Australian Dual Involved project, we couldn’t have done this without them.

We asked each member of our team what their highlights were in 2021. Use the side arrows or click the postcards to see what they said…

We also extend a warm welcome to the growing number of organisations who have endorsed the new Charter of Rights for Children and Young People in Care.

And while we say hello to our new endorsing organisations and Charter Champions, we say goodbye to the Office’s Principal Training Centre Advocate, Simone Deegan, and Communications and Engagement Officer, Kristen Lucas. We thank Simone and Kristen for bringing their individual contributions to our team, we will miss them!

We wish everyone a safe and happy festive season. We look forward to working together with you again in the new year to help improve the lives of all the uniquely wonderful children and young people living in care and detention.

Please note our office will be closed from 5pm on Wednesday 23 December until 9am on Tuesday 4 January.
